Wessey Vocational Institute signs memorandum of understanding with Federal Polytechnic
The Wessey Tailoring and Vocational Institute, located in Abeokuta , Ogun State Capital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro to run its academic programme of vocational studies.
Penpushing reports that, the institute affiliate with the polytechnic was cemented on Tuesday at the boardroom of the polytechnic, with the proprietor of the institute, Otunba Wasiu Taiwo leading the management team and the rector of the polytechnic, Arc Olusegun Aluko leading the management of the polytechnic.
The ceremony was also witnessed by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, representatives of the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji(Founder Penpushing media) as well as journalists and other stakeholders in educational sector in the state.
Penpushing further reports that, the rector in his welcome address appreciated the initiative of the proprietor of the vocational institute, with assurance that the polytechnic was all out to key into the initiative.
The rector declared that, with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which now pave way for the affiliation, the Wessey Tailoring and Vocational Institute will get to the level of relevance, adding that the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) will be contacted for assessors
Penpushing also reports that, Aluko explained that, with this development, students of the Wessey Tailoring and Vocational Institute, will now be awarded certificate of the polytechnic, which is acceptable globally
‘We are going to take it to level of relevance. We make sure NBTE get assessors, and the certificate is going to be accepted globally. We are going to introduce the students to international level’, Aluko emphasized
Penpushing reports that, Taiwo, the institute proprietor in his speech explained that the memorandum of understanding marked the consolidation of a true partnership, stressing that it was timely, adding that the management will also seize the opportunity to harness the momentum
‘We are delighted to be here today at the signing of an agreement for formalize and deepen the partnership between our institution and the polytechnic. The signing of the memorandum of understanding marks the consolidation of a true partnership. The timing is right. We must seize the opportunity to harness the momentum’, he said
‘The MOU commits us to work together more closely towards our common goal, which is the creation of highly skill and uniquely positioned youths in Ogun state workforce to work across sectors, responding to global market need with high professional skills’, Taiwo stated
Penpushing further reports that, the Director and management staff of the Polytechnic, Dr Dele Joboku on brief of the collaboration, recalled that the journey started in 2019, and became fruitful in view of resilience and passion the proprietor has for vocational studies
The Director affirmed that, following inspection to the institute before the nod to sign memorandum of understanding with the management, it was established that, Wessy Tailoring and Vocational Institute has all it takes to run the courses
Penpushing also reports that, Jiboku said the school will give long terms benefits, adding that the collaboration will in the same vein benefits the two parties, adding that equipment of studies provided by the institute were of international standard
The Director of Studies of the Wessy Creation Tailoring and Vocational Institute, Mrs Temitope Lanre-Alade in a brief on the collaboration , expressed optimism that, the collaboration will give the institute more recognition in the academic world
Penpushing reports that, Lanre-Alade boasted that the institute is the best in Nigeria in vocational studies, adding that it has all what it takes to provide academic excellence, and that no doubt the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro has similar qualities.
The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle in his remarks commended the proprietor of the institute and the polytechnic for the decision to collaborate, which he said was in the interest of teeming Nigerian youths, who are interested in vocational studies
Penpushing further reports that, the traditional ruler pointed out that vocational is a way to go now, and not about degree that could not be defended, adding that, it is what one hands can do now, that makes the world transform better
