We are set to conduct election for journalists in ogun state information ministry in line with union’s national headquarters directives, says committee

The Caretaker/Credential Screening Committee of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Information Chapel said it would work without conflicting with the national leadership of the union, hence, it resolve to conduct free and fair election within shortest time as ordered.

Penpushing reports that, this was made clear in a statement jointly signed by Comrade Kayode Oduyebo, (Chairman, Caretaker Committee) and Comrade Abiola Rufai,(Secretary, Caretaker Committee) in line with the resolution of the State Working Committee of the union.

The caretaker committee which declared that it has consented to the ‘task thrown at it from the national body of our great union’, expressed appreciation to every member of  the chapel, most especially the out gone executive.

Penpushing further reports that, the statement said the committee explained that it resolved to take the responsibility to put things in proper perspective, so that the incoming executive will start on a clean note and without conflicting with the national body of the union any longer.

The committee expressed optimism that with God on its side, all things are possible, assuring that all affected candidates in the coming election will all be treated equally, fairly and ensure justice.

‘In line with the  resolution of the state working committee of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the new Caretaker/Credential Screening Committee of the Ministry of Information Chapel, set up by the aforementioned union and led by Comrade Kayode Oduyebo to run its Affairs and to conduct the election of a new leadership, wishes to appreciate every member of our great Chapel, most especially the out gone executive’.

Penpushing also reports that, the committee called on the out gone executives to summit all union documents including the financial record of the chapel in their hands to the new Caretaker Committee Chairman immediately by 8.00am on Monday, 3rd of August, 2020.

‘The new Caretaker Committee led by Comrade Kayode Oduyebo has accepted the task thrown at it from the national body of our great union. However, the challenge before us is enormous, but, we assure you that the task will be accomplished’, the statement reads.

‘We have resolved to take the responsibility and also see it as a call to service to put things in proper perspective, so that the incoming exco will start on a clean note and without conflicting with the national body of the Union any longer’.

‘With God, all things are possible. We therefore assure all affected candidates in the coming election that they will all be treated equally, fairly and ensure justice. We assure you that your right will be protected and the election will hold as soon as possible’, the committee emphasised.

‘We however call on the out gone executives to summit all union documents including the financial record of the chapel in their hands to the new Caretaker Committee Chairman immediately by 8.00am on Monday, 3rd of August, 2020’, the committee stated.

 Penpushing reports that, the committee declared that, it is not interested in elongating its tenure and advised the outgone executive to do the needful, as soon as possible, and equally called on the dissolved electoral committee to summit forthwith, all documents in their possession for speedy completion of the electoral process.

‘We wish to say that non cooperation of the out gone executives will not, but only delay the process of the election unnecessarily, thus affect the stay of this new committee just as members of the committee are interested in elongating its tenure’.

‘As a result of the aforesaid, we hereby call the dissolved electoral committee to summit forthwith, all documents in their possession for speedy completion of the electoral process. To this end, we will like to state that new date for the election will be announced as soon as possible’, the statement said.
