Violent attack on ogun state government officials: Portable goes into hiding to evade arrest
The notorious and controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable is now on the run to evade arrest after he and some thugs allegedly assaulted officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development for sealing of his uncompleted building and hotel which has no necessary permits.
Penpushing reports that Portable and his thugs armed with dangerous weapons were reported to have attacked officials from the Ota Zonal Planning office of the Ministry on Wednesday around 10:00 am at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota, within the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State.
The police immediately swooped into action and arrested some of the thugs, but Portable narrowly escaped and has since been in hiding, as sources disclosed that the police are seriously after him and would soon be arrested.
Penpushing further reports the suspects arrested include Nurudeen Warris (21); Adetola Alashe (25); Samuel Adeleke (28); Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19); Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20); Gospel Kanu (20); Precious Ohiegebo (19); Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27) and Fatimo Muhammed (26)
The suspects were arraigned before Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. facing five charges: felony, assault, obstruction, armed violence involving cutlasses and guns, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and intent to kill.
Penpushing also reports that Police Prosecutor, Sunday Ekong, told the court that the alleged offences took place on Wednesday around 10:00 am at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota, within the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State.
The Prosecutor informed the court that the suspects, along with Portable, who is currently on the run unlawfully assaulted, restrained, and obstructed town planners Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero while they were carrying out their official duties at Odogwu Bar, a business owned by Portable.
Penpushing reports that Ekong added that the defendants, together with Portable, were armed with dangerous weapons and acted in a manner likely to disturb the public peace, with the intent to harm the town planning officers.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the Magistrate Mrs. O.M. Somefun, however, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N5 million each, with sureties who are licensed bond agents registered with the Ogun State government and subsequently case was adjourned until March 17 2025 for hearing.
