University student commits suicide in Akure
A 300-level student, Oluwapelumi Olona of the Department of Industrial Design, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has allegedly committed suicide at his off-campus residence in Aule area of the Ondo State capital.
Penpushing reports that the remains of the undergraduate popularly called ‘Black’ were found hanging, buckets supporting his feet, as his death is believed to be connected to depression arising from financial difficulties.
The source said his friends had gone in the early hours of Saturday to his room and found it locked, and they eventually broke the door after several calls to his phone drew no response, but shockingly when they gained access to the room they found the body hanging from the ceiling and some buckets under his feet, indicating he had used the buckets to reach the ceiling.
Penpushing further reports that neighbours of the late studen described him as a jovial and an ever smiling person who never got into an argument or a fight with anyone, and known to be into production of designer wears under the brand name “Tart Angle.”
The Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, explaining that it was a case of suspected suicide, adding that the corpse had been deposited at the morgue, as investigation continues
