Foremost journalist, Kayode Soyinka supports Sixthsense publishing company with 300 educational books
The renowned journalist and Publisher of Africa Today Magazine, Asiwaju Kayode Soyinka has donated 300 educational books to support the initiative of SixthSense, a publishing company which is set to unveil its Noveau Reading Culture Magazine aimed to further help to propagate the act of reading and to continuously groom children to see reading as an important culture to imbibe.
Penpushing reports that, Soyinka while presenting the books to the Creator/Coordinator of the project, Biodun Lasile in Abeokuta, explained that the donation was in line with his foundation known as Kayode and Titilope Soyinka Foundation.
The cerebral journalist commended the coordinator and management of SixthSense for what he described as a good and great work, in rejuvenating the reading culture, especially among the children
‘Arriving my hometown, Abeokuta, yesterday (May 11, 2021) to fulfil a promise I made about two years ago. Mr Abiodun Lasile’s SixthSense Initiative has been doing a good job in the ancient city, trying to rejuvenate the reading culture, especially among our young folks’, Soyinka said.
Penpushing also reports that, the donor stated that it was a token giveback from the foundation run by him and his wife, adding that they (couple) will keep following the progress of the SixthSense Initiative and continue to support it
The Publisher of Africa Today Magazine equally used the occasion in presenting copies of his magazine to Lasile, and in appreciation, the host honoured Soyinka with the highest title “Most Distinguished Important Personality” in the SixthSense Initiative.
Penpushing reports that, Lasile disclosed that, SixthSense Initiative has the backing of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof Wole Soyinka and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.
The coordinator earlier in a press statement disclosed that the event will hold on Wednesday 19th May, 2021 at Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta, and will be chaired by Justice Dehinde Shoremi, while the wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun is the Special Guest of Honour
Penpushing further reports that, Lasile explained that Sixth Sense Series Publications is the promoter of Children Reading Competition Programme, Summer Children Reading Camp, Community Mobile Library Services, MultiLevel children reading culture chain and establishing reading clubs in schools.
