United Kingdom running out of prison space, says official

The Prison Governors Association (PGA) in England and Wales on Tuesday warned that prisons are expected to reach full capacity within days, which put the public at risk, as people who should be in prison are left to roam the streets.

Penpushing reports that the Prison Governors Association (PGA) in an open letter to political leaders in the United Kingdom pointed out that as this happens, courts and police will no longer be able to freely and lawfully detain offenders.

“As this happens, courts and the police will no longer be able to freely and lawfully detain offenders. This will put the public at risk, as people who should be in prison are left to roam the streets’, the association emphasized.
