Two suspected fake soldiers arrested in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected fake soldiers for allegedly beaten up an elderly woman, causing pandemonium and disrupting market activities in Sabo area in  Sagamu town of the state.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi  made this known in a statement  adding that the suspects were arrested on the 22nd of September 2020 following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Sakura Division that some people  claded in Nigerian Army camouflage uniform suddenly alighted from a Sienna bus at Sabo market Shagamu and caused pandemonium there, beaten up an elderly market woman and disrupt commercial activities in the market.

The police spokesman said while this was going on, a serving soldier arrived the scene and demanded for the identity of the suspects, adding that instead of identifying themselves, they started boarding commercial motorcycles to escape from the scene hence the distress call to the police.

‘On the strength of the information, the DPO Sakura division CSP Dahunsi Ronald quickly led his patrol team to the scene where two of the suspects were arrested with the help of members of the public’, he explained.

Penpushing further reports that, Oyeyemi said the angry mob descended on them and attempted to hijack the suspects but they were quickly whisked away from the scene by the police, and gave identities of the arrested suspects as : Joseph Uzor (27)and Obadeyi Quadri(27).

The Police image maker disclosed that  recovered from the suspects are: two pairs of Army camouflage uniform, two pairs of black boots, one camouflage vest, one camouflage faz cap, one Samsung phone and sum of N10,000.

Penpushing also reports that, Oyeyemi stated that the alleged fake soldiers  are strongly suspected to be part of the robbery syndicate who used to operate in military outfit along Shagamu -Benin expressway

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation, and  equally directed an in-depth investigation into their past activities before they are arraign before a court of competent jurisdiction.
