TURNING OUR PASSION TO WEALTH: IMAGINE IF OUR SOCCER LOCAL LEAGUE BECOMES A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTOR TO OUR GDP
Despite the enormous talents in Nigeria playing with no good facilities, we still thrive. The mission and vision of the next President on soccer should be clear. I still grew up watching my Dad and friends argue about Abiola Babes versus Niger Tornadoes or Bendel Insurance versus Shooting Stars. Those days are gone.
An example is Ibadan, despite so many local streets and amateur clubs, very few sons of Ibadan can name a full squad of Shooting Stars. What’s the need when there is nothing to watch? I tried to follow Nigerian Football League (NFL) and the rest but there’s really nothing to see. Imagine if those entire street league games are formalized; imagine wearing a Gateway FC or Kano Pillars Jersey with pride?
The incoming executives must find a way to convert our local soccer to be the delight of the world, because the current guys think the only thing we need is road, water and hospitals which they are failing woefully.
And for the records NEVER AGAIN shall we have one minister in charge of POWER, WORKS AND HOUSING.. each of units are pillars and need experts.
A call to credible and passionate Nigerians whose souls are priceless to come channel the course of our nation
