Turkey-Syria Quake: Death toll rises to 4,800

The latest record on the earthquake in Turkey-Syria has it that at least 4,800 people have died in the twin incidents which rocked border communities of the two countries, as official sources said the extreme weather conditions have worsen the situation

Penpushing reports that Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), official, Orhan Tatar, gave the number of dead in the county at 3,381 on Tuesday morning, while 20,426 others were injured, adding that more than 5,700 buildings had also been destroyed.

The Ministry of Health and the White Helmets rescue organization in  Syria, stated that at least 1,444 people were killed and about 3,500 others were injured, stressing the plight of the victims was worsen by the bad weather

Penpushing further reports that President of Turkey Recep Erdogan said  the  Monday’s twin temblors was the biggest disaster since the 1939 Erzincan earthquake, which claimed  about 33,000 people, just as he declared seven days of national mourning while Syria has appealed to the United Nations(UN) for help.
