Truck kills road marshal along sagamu-ijebu-ode expressway

An alleged reckless truck driver has killed official of Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) within the axis of the  Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Road, while another official was also hit by the driver and on danger list in hospital.

Penpushing reports that, the Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar who confirmed the sad incident said the driver said to be driving carelessly and on excessive speed and lost control to cause the havoc on Monday

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) boss said the truck driver did not stop after hitting the officers but was chased by motorists and motorcycle riders who witnessed the incident, and later apprehended.

“It was carelessness on the part of the driver, he was on high speed, he lost control and hit the officer. As officers were standing by the our patrol vehicle, a flat-body trailer hit the officer and brush(ed) him in between the truck and the patrol vehicle. The officer died while another marshal got injured,” he said.

Penpushing further reports that, the sector commander explained that the truck driver after apprehension was handed over to the police, as at the time of filing this report, adding that the injured marshal is in the hospital receiving treatment.
