Tinubu seeks media support towards attracting investors into Nigeria

The Nigeria’s President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has sought the support of the media in projecting the country positively to enhance investor confidence in the nation and fuel economic development in the country

Penpushing reports that Tinubu made the appeal at the 19th All Nigeria Editors conference organised by the Guild of Editors holding  in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital with Governor Umo Bassey Eno playing host 370 media gatekeepers.

The President represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris emphasized that the media has major and relevant role to play in nation building, hence, need to support the government in attracting investors

“I urge you to provide positive media coverage that can enhance investor confidence and attract the needed investment that fuel economic development in our country”, the number one citizen of the country emphasized

Penpushing further reports that President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Eze Anaba earlier in his welcome address at the event, challenged his colleagues to do more to promote citizens access to information.

The number one editor in the country pointed out that information allows the public to hold a government accountable by creating a public awareness on government conduct, and equally asked government to take urgent steps towards resuscitating the economy

“Information allows the public to hold a government accountable by creating a public awareness on government’s conduct. A matter of concern to many in the nation today is the state of the Nigerian economy “.

Penpushing also reports that the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Sam Amuka in his charge to the media gatekeepers, said  they must always publish the truth, reminding them that as editors editing is knowing what to leave out.

The former Director General of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Muda Yusuf, in a presentation on “Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: Role of the Media, called on the media to stimulate discussions towards growing the economy.

Penpushing reports that the economist noted that Nigeria was facing declining reserves, lack of investor confidence and currency volatility among other challenges, stressing that the country is in dire need of economic reforms going by the level of poverty being experienced

Meanwhile the conference was chaired by a veteran journalist and Publisher of Vanguard Newspapers Sam Amuka and his long-time friend and colleague Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State as father of the day
