Tinubu sacks Bello-Koko as managing director of nigeria ports authority, appoints replacement
The Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has relieved Mohammed Bello-Koko of his position as the Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), and subsequently replaced him with Abubakar Dantsoho as the new boss of the agency.
Penpushing reports that Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale made this known in a statement on Friday, and gave no reason for the sack of the former Managing Director of the establishment
The statement added that the President in the same vein appointed a former senator, Dayo Adeyeye, as the chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) board.
‘President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Abubakar Dantsoho as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The president has also approved the appointment of Adedayo Adeyeye as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)’, the statement reads.
Penpushing further reports that Dantsoho holds a Doctorate degree in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, United Kingdom.
The new boss of the ports authority before his appointment, had served in various roles in the Nigerian Ports Authority as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff and Billing.
Penpushing also reports that the Board Chairman, Adeyeye is a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician and a former Minister of State for Works and was sometime a Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District of Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, the statement added that the President expects the new leadership of this pivotal agency to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes.
