Tinubu orders reduction in convoy vehicles, security personnel of ministers
The Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has ordered reduction in convoy vehicles, security personnel of Ministers, Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) heads, and pegged to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys
Penpushing reports that this was made known in a statement made available on Thursday by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said to have been signed by the President
The Special Adviser said the President in the statement emphasized that all affected officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes.
Penpushing further reports that the statement explained that in addition to the directive no additional vehicles will be assigned to them for movement, adding that all of them should henceforth have no more than five security personnel attached to them, and that the security team will comprise four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer.
The President in January, it is recalled took significant steps to reduce government expenditure, by reducing his entourage on foreign trips from 50 to 20 officials, and for local trips, he reduced it to 25 officials.
Penpushing also reports that in similar development he reduced the Vice President’s entourage to five officials on foreign trips and 15 for local trips, and equally instructed the National Security Adviser to engage with the Military, Paramilitary and Security Agencies to determine a suitable reduction in their vehicle and security personnel deployment.
