Terrorists attack two Nigerian military bases
Terrorists suspected to be members of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), have allegedly killed a commanding officer and some soldiers following attack on two military bases in Goniri and Kukawa, Borno State.
Penpushing reports that security sources disclosed that, the attacks were launched overnight on Monday, while the terrorists destroyed military operational vehicles.
The sources added as at the time of filing this report the exact number of people killed in the attacks have yet to be verified, it however, stated that many of the terrorists were reportedly killed in the attack.
Penpushing further reports that a resident of Kukawa was quoted as saying that the attack on the base there started after midnight, adding that the terrorists stormed the town from multiple directions and launched an attack on the military camp.
The attacks come four days after the terrorists invaded four military camps in Mainok, Jakana, Marte and Konduga, while the Nigerian Army in a statement last week, said it repelled all the attacks and eliminated many terrorists.
Penpushing also reports that sources stated that a senior officer and an unspecified number of soldiers were also killed, adding that the army buried some of the slain soldiers on Saturday.
The Nigerian Army spokesperson Appolonia Anele as at the time of filing this report, has not issued a statement about the latest attacks, while the horror campaign seems to have taken a sharp turn, with the insurgents deploying sophisticated weapons including armed drone
