Terrorism charges: South-east governors seek meeting with Tinubu for Nnamdi Kanu’s release
The South-east Governors Forum has resolved to meet President Bola Tinubu to seek the release of, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu who has been in detention since he was rearrested in June 2021 and brought back to Nigeria from Kenya under controversial circumstances.
Penpushing reports that the Governors which include Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Alex Otti of Abia and Anambra Prof Charles Soludo of Anambra State as well as Peter Mbah of Enugu State held a closed-door meeting in Enugu on Tuesday where the issue was discussed
The Chairman of the Governors Forum Hope Uzodinma who read out the communiqué to journalists explained that body of Governors from the zone also resolved to tackle insecurity in the South-East and environs
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Kanu, is currently facing terrorism charges at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while all efforts by his lawyers to secure his bail had met brickwall.
