SUSPECTED CULTISTS ATTACK IBADAN POLYTECHNIC, VANDALISES SIX CARS, 2 TRICYCLES
An eye witness Babatunde Solanke while narrating how the incident happened said that the unknown gunmen invaded the institution some minutes before 4.pm., recalling that,“there were rains of gunshots as some unknown men disrupted the peace at the South campus which is the entrance of the institution.”
“The incident began in the afternoon, where various properties were damaged ranging from private cars, tricycles, commercial bus, and the security house at the entrance of the Institution”, the witness stated
“Those people were three, with two of them holding guns, and one with axe. They were in blue top and black beret. When they came, the security men manning the gate ran for their lives as they were shooting sporadically in the air as well as destroying cars with the axe’.
Penpushing further reports that, a staff of the institution who prefered anonymity confirmed that the incident actually occurred at the South Campus of the institution where the suspected cultists vandalised six cars and two tricycles, adding,“ about five to six cars were vandalised, together with two tricycles, but nobody dies.”
While contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi said as at the time of filing this report he was unaware of the incident and he is yet to be brief about the ugly incident.
