Stakeholders raise concern over alleged plot to shield suspects of theft of polytechnic properties

A group of concerned stakeholders at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta have raised the alarm over alleged plot by some unnamed officials of the institution trying to prevent a thorough investigation of theft and stealing of the institution’s properties.

Penpushing reports that the stakeholders in a letter pointed out that since 2020 various burglary, breaking in, theft and pilfering of polytechnic properties occurred unabated up to date.

The group emphasized that a recent occurrence which happened on Saturday June 14 ,2025 at the main Polytechnic entrance led to the apprehension of three staffers of the polytechnic, who carried out the criminal act using a blue pickup vehicle

Penpushing further reports that the letter said to have been forwarded to the governing board of the institution stated that the suspects operating with the vehicle registration number SSANIP HQO4FG were caught carrying two stolen motor truck engines.

The complaint letter disclosed that the stolen properties were well covered with cassava stem and Plantain leaves without the approval or knowledge of the Polytechnic authority, lamenting that there are efforts by some powerful forces to shield the suspects

‘The consequence of these is that some of the Polytechnic staff who hitherto might not know about these incidences by virtue of their positions as security personnel has served various punishments like suspension, termination of appointment overtime’, the letter reads

Penpushing also reports that the stakeholder affirmed that the security officers of the Polytechnic who caught the suspects have the pictures and details information about the theft with them.

The stakeholders in this vein called on the Chairman, Governing Council of the institution to use his good office to step into the case for proper investigation, emphasizing that powers that be in the Polytechnic is planning to sweep the report under carpet

‘As concerned stakeholders of the Polytechnic, we want the Governing Council to step into the case for proper investigation. However, we learnt from a reliable source that the powers that be in the Polytechnic is planning to sweep the report under carpet even when the Police were initially invited but were later asked to withdraw. This is for your information and prompt action sir’, the stakeholders wrote

Penpushing reports that all efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Yemi Ajibola for reactions as at the time of filing this report proved abortive
