Priceless Jewel Foundation empowers 500 women in skills acquisition

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Priceless Jewel Foundation on Thursday turned out 500 women as graduate of various skill profession who are beneficiaries of the foundation empowerment skill, to pave way for better livelihood for them.
Penpushing reports that the ceremony which was the 4th edition of the Priceless Jewel Foundation was organized to commemorate the International Day of The Girl Child, held at Amazing Grace Event Centre, Kuforiji Olubi Road, Agbeloba , Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
The convener of the project, Barrister Olajumoke Peters in her speech explained that the foundation was established for economic, social and financial empowerment of the female gender, as well as to address the sexual and gender-based violence, and in same vein engaged in referral and advocacy
‘We use economic and financial empowerment as a tool to weigh all domestic violence amongst women, because we find out that a lot of women are in abusive relationships, they do not have a choice, they do not have a place of livelihood so they remain in the relationship and eventually some even die in the relationship’, she stated.
‘So, what we are doing is giving women a choice, a means of livelihood so they can have every opportunity to say no to domestic violence. Today is a peculiar day we are celebrating and graduating our 500 beneficiaries of women and girls that we have trained on different skills”.
Penpushing further reports that the Chairperson of the graduation ceremony Hon. Adijat Adeleye- Oladapo, in her speech advised every girl child on need to always have determination and know there is purpose
‘You must always have the determination that Yes, I am a girl. But I am powerful, I am beautiful, I know what I want. As females, as girls we are not just there we are created for a purpose, and you have to know the purpose for which you are created because immediately you lose it you have lost it’, she emphasised.
Penpushing also reports that Adeleye-Oladapo who doubles as the President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta pointed out that when God created the world and created man, if a man can leave alone, He wouldn’t have created a woman.
The highlights of the ceremony include a discussion panel where different topics which focused on enlightenment of girl-child were discussed with the theme, ‘Unlocking Potentials: The Power of Remote Work in Economically Empowering Vulnerable Women to Stem Gender Based Violence”.
Penpushing reports that a guest lecture Dr. Kubra Kolawole, who is the Acting Head Private Law Department, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye spoke on the topic “Economic and Financial Empowerment of Nigerian Women: A tool for Eradication of Domestic Violence or a Catalyst for Domestic Violence?”.
The royal mother of the day, Olori Ameenat Matemilola in her remarks advised girl-child to always be focused and be determined towards what they become in future, and should not turn relegate themselves to the background
‘Please be focused, also don’t let people’s opinion about you decide who you are or what you want to be. I always say this everywhere If am giving an opportunity to speak that, jack of all trades master of none, but it a long more than just that phrase any longer, it says jack of all trades master of none but often times better than master of one.
Penpushing also reports that, Chairman of Odeda local government, Hon Folashade Adeyemo in her contributions reminded the women that they should always realized that they are architect of their lives, and should it in better way
‘You are the architect of your life, you build it the way you want and the way you like it to be. What you want to be in life is in your hand just ensure that you do well with it”, the female council chairman emphasized
Penpushing further reports that one of the graduating students, Olufunke Sanusi one of the graduating students and beneficiary of the Priceless Jewel Foundation expressed her gratitude on how the foundation has helped her financially.
‘The foundation has really helped me a lot I was in the department of production and packaging of liquid soap, hair shampoo, liquid air-freshener and insecticide. I want to appreciate them for the fact that they have supported me financially. I have started making money from the liquid soap and shampoo’, she affirmed
Penpushing also reports that a prominent guest at the well-attended event was Chief (Mrs) Iyabode Apampa, a former Commissioner of Education, Youth and Sports in Ogun State and the founder, Touch Lives Foundation.
