Removal fever: Oshiomhole gets relief, as Appeal court halts suspension
The embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole on Monday got a relief from his political travail, as Court of Appeal in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) halted the suspension order placed on him as the party Chairman.
Penpushing reports that, a Federal Court in Abuja had earlier ruled that Oshiomhole should stop parading himself as the Chairman of the party, and in a counter ruling, a Federal High Court in Kano State said he remains the authentic Chairman of the party.
The development has continued to generate bad blood within the hierarchy of the party, and in reaction the National leader of the Bola Tinubu on Sunday, came out with a strong statement to support Oshiomhole and condemned the actions of those behind plot to remove him
Penpushing further reports that, Tinubu declared that those working on plot are infected by “the 2023 virus” noting that, “while Corona has been presently contained in Nigeria, we must be alert to another sickness that seems rampant within a certain segment of society’.
That sickness is old Ambition-virus 2023. This illness afflicts many in the political class along with their allies in the media. Those touched by this malady find that their ability to tell time and discern the difference between the present and the future has been strongly impaired. The carriers of this sickness are confused as to the very season our nation now finds itself.
“They conflate things, which no sensible person would conflate. The primary symptom of their malady is the driving tendency to believe the events of 2023 will be decided before we even exit the year 2020’,Tinubu stated.
“Consequently, everything they say and do is geared toward obsessive jockeying for position to control and manipulate a race still three years away. In doing so, they recklessly undermine the very party which they claim to serve and weaken the administration of President Buhari to which they claim to be loyal. They line up to run a race for which the track has not even yet been constructed’.
Penpushing also reports that, with the Appeal Court ruling, Oshiomhole is to preside on the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for Tuesday.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement on Monday disclosed that the meeting is scheduled to hold by 12 pm at the party’s national secretariat, and this announcement came just hours after the party shelved its planned National Executive Committee after the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari..
