Rainstorm damages houses, causes blackout in Kogi State

Rainstorm accompanied with heavy downpour on Tuesday rendered havoc in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, resulting in the destruction of some houses and 18 electric poles, while the city and suburbs now experiencing total darkness.

Penpushing reports that, Public Relation Officer of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Ifeoma Arudi, confirmed the incident, adding that technicians of the company were already working on replacing the damaged poles in different locations.

The spokesperson of the company disclosed that the storm also damaged power installations when uprooted trees and roof tops fell on them, pointing out that consumers may have to wait until late night or Thursday to have normal electricity supply.

Penpushing further reports that, as at the time of filing this report, findings showed that, many kiosks were swept off, while number of rooftops of houses and shops were blown away by the storm, as well as trees uprooted  in some areas.

Meanwhile, number of landlords, shop owners and kiosk operators have started  counting their losses  due to the unfortunate and natural incident, emanating from the wreckage caused by the windstorm
