Protest Hijack: Action Alliance condemns attack on Governor Oyetola
The Action Alliance (AA) Osun State Chapter has condemned the recent attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola, by suspected hoodlums in the wake of police brutality protest, describing the attack as wicked act by enemies of progress.
Penpushing reports that, Chairman of the party,Adetunji Olubunmi in a statement on Tuesday said the protest was carried out by disgruntled elements whose mission was to cause disaffection in the state.
The Chairman said the party was in support of agitation by those calling for an end to police brutality but against vandalization of public and private property which was done by hoodlums who hijacked the genuine protest.
Penpushing further reports that, Olubunmi decried the attacks on Oyetola and some public office holders during the protest, just as he berated the vandalization of properties of well meaning individuals in the state.
The Action Alliance boss pointed out that Governor Oyetola did not deserve such treatment, having identified with the protesters from the initial stage of the protest, and called for proper investigations into the attack, stressing that those involved in the dastardly act should be made to face the wrath of the law.
Penpushing also reports that, he hailed the Governor for setting up the judicial panel of enquiry on police brutality, saying the action of the governor shows his love for the people, including the downtrodden members of the society.
