Press conference: Governor Abiodun incurs Ogun State journalists wrath, for keeping them in suspense for 4 hours
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Friday had a feel of the wrath of journalists in the state over his often ways of not adhering to appointment time,and this resulted in the journalists decision to walk out from the venue of a proposed press conference.
Penpushing reports that, the Governor who is known for not keeping to time had invited the journalists for a press conference scheduled to hold by 2.00pm, but Abiodun was not readily available to attend to them after four hours.
The records have it that, Friday’s delayed experience of journalists will be the 5th, and majority of these occurred at his private residence in Iperu Remo in Ikenne Local Government area, a journey of about 30 minutes drive to Abeokuta the State Capital.
Penpushing reports that , on many occasions when journalists travelled to Abiodun’ s home town, in Iperu, where he now uses as government official quarters, they ended up spending hours behind the scheduled time of the media event..
The investigation showed that, journalists ended up returning to their various homes late in the night, a development considered as dangerous for them in the wake of the lockdown, coupled with recent criminal activities of hoodlums in the State.
Penpushing also reports that, the last straw that broke the camel’s back was the Friday incident at the Governor’s office,Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where the journalists waited for over four hours for the press conference but the governor was never in sight.
The journalists who were kept at the front gate of the Governor’s office, became agitated, with the background of similar ugly treatment, and resolved to leave, and boycotted the press conference .
