Police withdraw operatives from former Governor Emmanuel’s residence amid rift with successor
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has withdrawn their operatives from the residences of the former governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel, as the rift between him and his successor, Umo Eno, continued to widen since the latter defected from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June.
Penpushing reports that the order signed by an assistant superintendent of police, Ekwo Godwin on behalf of the chief security officer at the Government House, Uyo directed the operatives attached to Emmanuel’s residences in the state to withdraw from their locations.

The order dated September 30, 2025 directed the operatives on October 1, 2025 to leave and report at the police headquarters, Uyo, for debriefing, while sources also added that the withdrawn operatives were also attached to former state officials who refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Penpushing further reports that during a visit to the country home of Emmanuel at Awa Iman, in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, and at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo no police operatives were found around as at Thursday and Friday.
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, when contacted denied that operatives had been withdrawn from the former governor’s residences, while the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, on Thursday said he was unaware of the development.
Penpushing also reports that Umanah as at the time of filing this report told journalists that security people should be asked adding that the order can’t be from the Akwa Ibom state government

‘It has been a tradition for the Akwa Ibom State Government to request a number of operatives from police authorities, which the government distributes to serving and former state officials. The request and distribution are handled by the chief security officer at the Government House, Uyo, with the governor’s authorisation’.
Penpushing reports that the secret political crisis discreetly managed between Eno and his predecessor, following the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has now spilt into the open, exposing a feud that could alter Akwa Ibom state political equation.
