Police rescue 13 Kidnapped victims in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has rescued 13 kidnapped victims who were being taken away to unknown destination by a gang of suspected   kidnappers in a Toyota Hiace bus in the early hours of Saturday.

Penpushing reports that the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the rescue operations, explaining that following intelligence report  the commissioner, detailed a team of Police Operatives of the “Puff Adder” Operation, who traced the gang of kidnappers conveying the  victims in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number MSA 657 XA and 2 two motorcycles.

The police spokesman said, the suspected kidnappers on sighting the Operatives along Enugu-Markurdi highway, diverted and disappeared into Akamagbo Ugbaike Community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of  the State.

Penpushing further reports that, Ndukwe said the hoodlums were later traced to their hideout in the house of one Chidi Ogbonna (also known as “Egbe) in the said Akomagbo Ubgaike Community where they were holding the victims hostage.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahman, as at the time of filing this report has consequently ordered a manhunt of the fleeing members of the gang, and  also called on the “good and law-abiding citizens of Enugu State, especially community leaders, to expose and avoid harbouring criminal elements, who perpetrate acts of crimes and criminality within their domains.

Penpushing also reports that, the Commissioner said the Command will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found encouraging or perpetrating crimes and criminality of any kind in the State.”
