Police Commissioner leads officers to enforce third-party insurance order in Ogun State

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Command Lanre Ogunlowo on Saturday led the police to officially commence the enforcement of third-party motor insurance across the state in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Penpushing reports that Ogunlowo accompanied by his men visited key areas in Abeokuta, including Olomore, Ibara, and OPIC Panseke, to monitor compliance levels among motorists.

The exercise recorded significant adherence to the directive, while some motorists appealed for additional time to update their vehicle insurance,while during the enforcement, motorists without valid third-party insurance but with other required vehicle documents were granted a grace period and educated on the importance of compliance.

Penpushing further reports that Ogunlowo emphasized that third-party motor insurance is a crucial safety measure that provides financial protection for accident victims and ensures insurance companies compensate those affected.

The police boss, however, urged all vehicle owners to regularize their insurance status immediately to avoid penalties, stressing that enforcement exercise will continue across the state as part of efforts to promote road safety and uphold the rule of law.
