POLICE COMMENCE INVESTIGATION INTO KILLING AT HOME OF GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE IN ENUGU
“The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives have commenced full scale investigations into the alleged shooting and death of one Osondu Odoh aged about 30 years believed to be at Ayogu Eze’s residence at Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu state on 9/3/19. The victim is not an observer but a supporter to the candidate.
Penpushing had earlier reported the incident which occurred at Ayogu Eze, in Enugu-Ezike, in Enugu North Senatorial District, of Enugu State, where some observers were held hostage by suspected political thugs at the scene
The circumstance surrounding the shooting was yet unclear, while the official bus of the observers was also damaged by the thugs. The area was late cordoned off by a combined team of police and military.
The source further disclosed that, after the shooting the observers were allegedly held hostage at the politician compound until a combined team of the police and army came to rescue them and took them to the police station.
“We were almost killed there, They set us up, they threw a cap with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s picture on it inside our bus, branded us PDP members, then descended on us’ one of the observers narrated their plights
Penpushing also reports that, a source at the area said that the victim was taken to the St Mary’s hospital, Enugu-Ezike by the military, and later transferred to Enugu, as a result of the degree of the injuries.
