Obi overtakes Tinubu in Lagos state

The latest updated results of the Presidential election in Lagos State has shown that the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has overtaken Bola Tinubu of  the All Progressives Congress (APC)  as at the time of filing this report.

Penpushing reports this was contained in the declared results in 17 out of the 20 local government areas of the state so far, though, Tinubu, has won more local government areas, but he is trailing behind Obi by a slim margin of 1,686 votes.

The results showed that while Tinubu won in 10 local government areas, scoring a total of 447,192 votes so far, Obi on his part is ahead in only seven local governments, but is leading the tally narrowly with 448,878 votes.

Penpushing further reports that, earlier Tinubu was narrowly leading the tally after the results had been declared in 12 local government areas, but with results declared from additional local government areas Obi has caught up with him and subsequently overtook him.

The Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on his part has polled 60,330 across the 17 local government areas where results have been declared so far, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has recorded 6,870 votes

Penpushing also reports that Tinubu won in  Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Surulere local government areas, while Obi has won Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, and Somolu.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this reports the three remaining local government areas where results are being expected include Mushin, Ojo, and Alimosho.
