POLICE ARREST 29 SUSPECTS OVER IJEBU-IGBO CULT CLASH, AS GOVERNOR AMOSUN THREATENS TO PULL DOWN BUILDINGS HARBOURING CRIMINALS

“Killing each other is a thing of the past in this State and I’m going to ensure that we get to the root of this matter. This is not acceptable, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law and nobody will be allowed to mess the State up,” the Governor said.

In a related development, Ogun State Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi on the arrest of the suspects added that the command broke into the enclaves of the two groups where the suspects were arrested while a pump action gun and one locally made pistol recovered.

‘Following the bloody clash between the OPC and Aye cult group which claimed the lives of a police inspector and three others, men of the command have been able to break into the enclaves of the two groups where 29 suspects were arrested and a pump action gun and one locally made pistol was recovered’,Oyeyemi said.

He further told journalists that, the combing of the various hideout of the hoodlums were still in progress and as of efforts ongoing to arrest more suspects and recovery of other dangerous weapons and assorted charms.

‘The command hereby assures members of the public of their security and advises them to go about their lawful business without fear of harassment or intimidation from any quarter. The command is resolute in its determination to bring to book all those who are directly or indirectly link to the fracas no matter how highly place such persons may be , and while we are doing that, no innocent person will be unjustly punished’, he added.

The Command spokesman said, the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered 24 hours surveillance patrol of the town and it’s environs, and equally directed that the Area Commander ijebu Ode should be coordinating the police operation in the town.
