PLEASE HELP PUT OUR ROAD NETWORK IN GOOD SHAPE, OGUN COMMUNITY BEGS GOVERNOR

The letter signed by the Chairman, Engr. Adewale Oladele Iyanda and the Secretary General, Mr Akinlose Adenayo David, and made available to Penpushing Media, urged the State Governor to prevail on the Ministry of Works and Transport, as well as the local government and Local Council Development in their location to put the road and other areas into consideration during his tenure.

The letter read in parts, “the said road which has its root from Iyana-Ilogbo end of Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road and has its mouth opened at Iju town to join the road that comes from Sango-Ota to the border town, Idi-Iroko’.

“The road has suffered a great setback from the past administration that governed the State since the advent of the current political dispensation which commenced governance in May 1999. The negligence of the road in terms of the repairs, either reconstruction or even rehabilitations is so glaring that none of the regimes dear put a touch of repair on it. Part of a show that the entire area is deliberately and completely marginalized by the past administrations’.

“However, in January this year 2019, the just concluded administration deemed it fit to start the rehabilitation of the said major road. The dimensional area the road covers is just 19 kilometres. And, it is the only major road that connects both the towns and villages in the area to the Urban Centre’.

 ‘Absolutely,  no alternative route. Perhaps, starting the project in January 2019 was done as a motivation in the quest to gain support and gather votes for the Governorship candidate of their choice from the people of the area, of which most of the electorates did not succumb’.

‘ But, building our hope on the fact that the project is that of Ogun State Government, and should be a continued project, our utmost and amazing surprise is seeing work on the road stopped recently, as the Contractors through the workers had packed their working equipment’.

“Sir, our hope and belief that your administration will see to the proper handling of the said road project has been questioned, why? By seeing the project stopped abruptly without even seeing any touch of finishing at the area touched, and not making any effort to get to the substantial portion of the whole dimension, let alone its completion, calls for a great concern.”

Penpushing further reports that the situation of the areas gotten worsen each time there is rain fall, with lot of damages and unmotorable

“Sir, since our hope beckons at your administration’s finishing the road project at the shortest possible time, it will be our unalloyed joy that you intervene into the matter and see that work starts as speedy as possible on the project within the shortest possible time’.

‘Moreso, that when heavy rainfall starts in the area, the whole portion touched will be made worse than it was earlier, the surface will get eroded and may cause more destruction to properties and other materials, thus adding more to the suffering on the people’.

“Thus, we should try to avoid any havoc that may lead to wanton destruction. Already, most motorists within the area have been deprived of easy accessibility to join the Lagos/Abeokuta express road and there is no alternative route for motorists plying the road.

The letter, also added that residents of the area who works in far places from their homes, are forced to leave home as early as 3am in order to meet up with their various working activities.

“Residents too suffer the uneasy means of moving in and out. Some residents of this area who have their places of work in farther distances like the Lagos Island and others are faced with terrible horror of leaving their homes as early as 3a.m and the rigour of getting back very late in the night.”

Meanwhile, the community  also solicit for the support of the Governor for the people of the in areas of employment opportunity, human empowerment and as well as other infrastructural developments.
