PENPUSHING MEMBER, SEGUN OJELADE BECOMES NTA GENERAL MANAGER
Apart from reportorial and news production duties, he was the Producer/Presenter of Senate 109, a Legislative features; a Producer of the famous NTA News Magazine Programme, Good Morning Nigeria and one of the Presenters of the incisive interview programme, Nigeria Today .
The new General Manager is a member of the NTA Network Editorial Board, and widely travelled as an International Reporter with many Professional Awards to his kitty. He is a Pastor and noble personality.
As a Labour leader and Professional, he led his union, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) in various capacities; and one of the strongest public service Cooperative Societies, NTA Abeokuta CTCS as President.
He is married to Faith, an Ondo woman, with children. His new assignment as General Manager, NTA Akure, Oba-Ile, Akure, Ondo State is therefore an homecoming call to duty for him. He succeeds Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye, a veteran broadcaster who is on retirement.
In his speech, Ojelade expressed appreciation to his boss, the Director General of NTA, Yakubu ibn Muhammed, who he described as a mentor to him and many others in broadcast journalism, for the confidence reposed in him by this appointment and the charge to reposition the station.
His words, ‘I take the appointment and the challenge as a testimonial confirmation of Director General’s age long manifest expediency in personnel management’, adding that the station is endowed with very competent, hardworking and committed professionals in all aspects of television broadcasting.
‘Some of them I had worked with and some of them I had worked on their productions at local and Network levels. With these rare human assets enumerated above, much I need to do in short time is to sustain the legacies of those who have laboured building the station by increasing the hours of transmission, improving content and enhancing the welfare of staff’,Ojelade stated.
The General Manager expresses optimism that, great efforts will be made to rehabilitate the station’s studio which he noted is presently calling for attention, with a call on the Director-General to support him with needed facilities which, apart from being important in crowning his committed efforts at taking NTA to the next level.
He emphasized that this is paramount in this onerous task to give Ondo people the best of broadcast, just as he also called on the Ondo State Government, Ministries and Agencies as well as well meaning individuals to patronise the station,’not limited to commercials but by goodwill, grants and aid to enable us serve the state better’.
