OBASANJO HOSTS ACTION DEMOCRATIC PARTY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

The meeting lasted for few hours, and it was gathered that the former President emphasized on the unity of the country and good governance.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the visiting Presidential Candidate confirmed that his visit was to pay homage to Obasanjo and tell him his desire to rule the country in the next political dispensation

‘We are here to pay homage, to honour a great citizen of this country; we are here to tell him that we are contesting the number one office of the President of this country. We are doing that because we believe Nigeria needs a departure for what has been happening’.

‘Former President Obasanjo is a good example of what Nigeria can be, somebody that work 24/7, he engages with international communities, he’s respected all over the world and that’s the kind of leadership we want in this country’.

‘We know his position on issues of good governance, unity and which is what we represent. We are happy with him because he told us a lot of things, about the fact that the unity of this country is not negotiable. He believes that I have the capacity, the knowledge if Nigerians give me the opportunity to lead’.

The party flagbearer also noted that, insecurity is one of the major concern of his administration if elected, ’today Nigerians are living in fear, people can no longer travel from one place to another without the fear of been kidnap or kill’.

‘This is a country whose GDP was about 570b dollars just about two to three years ago, growing at the rate of 5% per cent and today economic to go down to 1.5 percent grows rate. With all the potentials of this country, God did not plan us to suffer, hunger, killing, lack of capacity in the governance, lack of direction. .This is not the promise of this country, we have something better. The situation where you have “power without knowledge” is crisis and that’s why we are here’.

‘You can’t have oil and gases in the country and occupy 6 positions in the list country that export crude oil and be in poverty as we are. I have the capacity, knowledge; I know how to make use of oil and gas. Petrol is a gift from God, is not all country that have the opportunity that we have in this country’, he said.
