Peace Initiative Network to launch project in addressing insecurity in ogun state

A Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) Peace Initiative Network(PIN) is set to launch a new project aimed to address insecurity in Ogun State and environs, tagged, Partnering for Safer and Resilience Communities in Ogun State, Nigeria’.

Penpushing reports a statement by the network noted that the rate of insecurity which include violent clashes, among young people are alarming, expressing worry that in recent time Abeokuta and Sagamu have witnessed increasing violent conflict between members of various youth gangs and cult groups.

The Peace Initiative Network (PIN) disclosed that project highlights include convening of Peace Summit / Conference in 3 cities namely: Abeokuta, Sagamu and Ayetoro targeting diverse relevant community stakeholders.

Penpushing further reports that others are peace education workshops for 40 young people each at the 3 senatorial districts of the state, weekly one-hour live phone-in radio program in local language Yoruba, digital peacebuilding campaign on social media as well as engaging bloggers and social media influencers

‘The rate of insecurity in Ogun State south west Nigeria resulting in violent clashes, killings, among young people are alarming. In recent time, Abeokuta and Sagamu have witnessed increasing violent conflict between members of various youth gangs and cult groups’, the statement reads.

Penpushing also reports that the network as at the time of filing this report did not specify when the project is scheduled to hold but sources disclosed that the organisers are working round the clock to ensure the take off as soon as possible
