Pastor’s son arrested for allegedly raping 5 year old in akwa ibom state
A 29 year old son of a pastor has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom Police Command for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in his bedroom, at House 28 Okon Dan Street in Abak Local Government Area of the State.
Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, N-nudam Fredrick said the suspect, Victor Felix Ukpong, was arrested on June 2, adding that when the girl’s mother temporarily left her in the custody of the pastor’s family while she went to the market, the suspect took the advantage to rape the innocent girl
The police spokesperson in another development said five other persons have also been arrested across the state for alleged involvement in rape cases, adding that one of the suspects, Edet Godwin Edet, 27, of Ikangta Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area was said to have raped a 12-year- old whom he lured with a job offer as a salesgirl in his provision shop.
Penpushing further reports that, the police said the suspect after he allegedly raped her, accused the victim of stealing his N500, and while confessing to the crime as well as inflicting the victim with a cut on her head, using a machete.
Meanwhile, the police command has vowed that Akwa Ibom State would never be a “safe haven” for rapists and other sex offenders and urged residents to promptly report rape cases to the authorities.
