Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party crisis deepens as faction opens parallel party office in Ibadan

The power tussle rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State took a strange  dimension, following emergence of two factions of the party leadership and establishment of a parallel secretariat  in the state capital, Ibadan

Penpushing reports that, the parallel faction is said to be oppose to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, with a claim that, the secretariat was opened in preparation for the party’s congress coming up in few weeks in the state

The party secretariat was originally located at Molete, Ibadan while  the parallel party secretariat as at the time of filing this report is now situated at number  2 Okunola Abass Street, Bodija estate, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital

Penpushing further reports that, Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state, Engr. Akeem Olatunji while reacting described the action of the parallel officials  as a comedy, stressing that there is only one recognized party  secretariat in the state located in Molete.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, added that those behind opening of the new party office are joking because it contravened the constitution of the party stressing that whoever that tried it shall face the wrath of the law.

“Political party is not what someone can just come up with, it has to be registered with INEC, we are the only recognized chapter of PDP in the state, if anybody is preparing for the congress and they feels that they are popular, they should go and obtained form in preparation for the congress”, he said

“The new office can never exist, and if it does, its just a comedy, it is illegal because its been opened by faceless people, it not in existence because if at all there is going to be a secretariat, there should be an executive running it.”

Penpushing also reports that some aggrieved party members led by Hon. Mulikat Akande Adeola, Hon. Muraina Ajibola, Alhaji AbdulRasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan, Engr. Femi Babalola Jogor and others had convened a meeting of aggrieved party members from across the state to salvage’the party.
