OYO POLICE ARREST 29 ROAD TRANSPORT UNION MEMBERS OVER DISRUPTION OF GOVERNOR’S INAUGURATION
The police boss noted that operation was successfully carried out by the combined effort of the Police, Military and State Security Services (SSS) which led to the arrest of 15 hoodlums identified as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and recovery of One Axe, 8 branded T – Shirts and series of charms, weapons.
The Commissioner explained that a follow up arrest was made during the inauguration of Governor Seyi Makinde in which a team of Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) attached to the State Command and detailed across the city, recovered 14 suspects, 3 guns, 7, charms and other harmful devices were accosted.
Penpushing further reports while assessing General Crime statistics of Reported and Prosecuted cases between 1st of January discovered that 3,720 cases were brought before the table of the Oyo State Police Command, which led to the arrest of 5,472 suspects while 3,052 of the suspects have been charged to court.
The Commissioner however emphasised that the Command is conscious of the possibility of increase in crime rate often associated with festive period, but assured the people of the State that the Command is working round the clock to put a robust plan that would guarantee security of lives and properties before, during and after the forth-coming Eid-el-fitr celebration in the State.
