
Tinubu’s political godson, Rauf Aregbesola appointed interim national secretary of African Democratic Congress to thwart Tinubu’s second term ambition
The political godson of President Bola Tinubu, a former Governor of Osun State under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Rauf Aregbesola has been appointed as interim National Secretary of African Democratic Congress (ADC) to tackle second term ambition bid of Tinubu in 2027.
Penpushing reports that Aregbesola’s appointment with other national officers was made known in the early hours of Wednesday when the Atiku Abubakar-led opposition coalition formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform to challenge Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The decision was reached following delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in registering the coalition’s preferred party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
Penpushing further reports that as a result of the new development the platform equally appointed former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman, and former Minister of Youth and Sports Bolaji Abdullahi as National Public Relations Officer
The coalition leader Umar Ardo, explained that the group is keeping its options open, adding that it will continue to pursue All Democratic Alliance (ADA) registration with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which acknowledged the application on June 27, 2025, following its submission on June 19, 2025.
Penpushing also reports that he said in the in the meantime, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will serve as the operational platform for political mobilisation nationwide, disclosing that Senator David Mark is expected to lead the coalition through this transitional phase.
