Otokoto in Ile-Ife: Family begs Buhari to come to their rescue in getting justice

The family of Timothy Adegoke, a masters student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Osun State who was allegedly murder for ritual purposes at Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife have called on President Muhammed Buhari to assist them in ensuring that the case is not swept under the carpet.

Penpushing reports that, following the incident, the owner of the hotel Dr Ramon Adedoyin, and six others have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command, after the remains of the victim were exhumed from a shallow grave, where he was buried after the killing.

The victim had travelled from Abuja to Ile-Ife on November 5 to take examination at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and lodged at the hotel, but thereafter declared missing by the family, with a report made to the police.

Penpushing further reports that, following intensive investigation, the police uncovered alleged culprits in the murder, including Adedoyin, a renowned influential person, and also founder of Oduduwa University, Ile-Ife, fingered in the crime

The elder brother of the 37 year old deceased,  narrating the sad event, said the police work hard to get to the root of the case, adding that, at the scene of shallow grave, when the body of Timothy of Adegoke was exhumed it was discovered that he was slaughtered.

Penpushing also reports that, after the murder, the alleged culprits wrapped the body with the hotel duvet, packed inside a cartoon and buried in a shallow grave, adding that the arrest of the hotel receptionist led to arrest of other suspects.

The family said, they entertain fear that, Adedoyin who is also in police detention following his alleged role in the crime, is now making frantic efforts with his influence, to wriggle himself out of the crime, and ensure the case is sweep under the carpet.

Penpushing reports that, it is in view of this, the family cried to President Muhammed Buhari and other stakeholders in the country to come to their aid, in ensuring that they get justice, lamenting that the deceased was the pride of his hometown and breadwinner of the family.

The family said the late Timothy before his tragic death, was a father of three, with a wife, all of them resident in Abuja, adding that the parents were still alive, and rained curses on all those involved in the murder

Penpushing further reports that Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olawale Olokode confirmed the arrest of owner of the hotel on November 15, 2021, alongside some other staffers of the hotel in connection with the crime

The police boss affirmed that, as at the time of filing this report all suspects are in custody and undergoing investigation, and called on the bereaved family, members of the public and students of the university to exercise patience with assurance that, the matter will not be swept under the carpet

Penpushing also reports that, the commissioner declared that, no matter the personality of the person involved in the case or highly or lowly placed in the society, if found culpable would be brought to justice, adding that updates on the case will be made public as the event unfold
