Olumayowa Idowu emerges as youngest chairman Nigerian Society of Engineers

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abeokuta Branch has elected Engr. Olumayowa Idowu as Chairman alongside other executives at the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the society held on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Penpushing reports that Idowu was elected as the youngest chairman in the history of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and becomes the 17th Chairman of the branch to assume the position in the history of the 46-year-old branch.

The Electoral Chairman, Engr. Ademola Olagunju, while announcing said other elected officials include Engr. Dr. Adekunle Musa, (Vice Chairman), Engr. Dr. Abolaji Ilori (General Secretary), Engr. Ayomide Esther Bello (Assistant General Secretary), Engr. Ismail Adeyemi (Technical Secretary), and Engr. Olusina Agbaje (Assistant Technical Secretary).

Penpushing further reports that others are Engr. Gbenga Osungboye (Treasurer), Engr. Adegoke Adewale (Financial Secretary), Engr. Solomon Ogbaje(Publicity Secretary), Engr. Bukola Olodeokuta (Assistant Publicity Secretary), Engr. Toyin Oyeneye( Internal Auditor), Engr.(Dr) Grace Amusan( Ex-Officio), and Engr. Ismail Adenuga,( Immediate Past Chairman).

The 17th Chairman of the branch in his acceptance speech, stated that he and his team embrace this significant task with enthusiasm and determination as they are committed to rebuilding the Abeokuta branch of the society, understanding the magnitude of the tasks ahead.

“We are prepared to embark on this journey starting tomorrow, aiming to rewrite the story of NSE Abeokuta in terms of professional development, member welfare, intergovernmental and industry collaborations, advocacy, improved community impact, and enhanced publicity. Our vision is clear, and our resolve is firm’, he said.

‘In pursuit of our goals, we recognize that greatness will not be achieved by taking the easy road but by choosing the right path. As American President Franklin Roosevelt once said, ‘There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still.’ We dare not stand still; we dare not let the opportunities of our future pass us by. We know the proper way forward for our Branch, and we shall take it,” Idowu added.

Penpushing also reports that the 12th Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in similar vein, conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), where many far-reaching decisions were made.
