Olowu throws weight behind Rockcity Economy Investment Company’s social trust centre initiative

The Owu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola on Thursday threw his weight behind a proposal of Social Trust Centre initiated by Rockcity Economy Investment Company Limited, stressing that he was impressed and proud of the organization.
Penpushing reports that Matemilola gave the support when the Board of Directors of the Company led by Segun Ibigbami paid him a courtesy visit in his palace at Oke- Ago Owu in Abeokuta, adding that the initiative was a welcome development and good idea having towards the ancient town.
The royal father accompanied by some of his chiefs, pointed out that the project, a new proposed social tourist center will boost the culture and investments of Ogun State, and by extension to other parts of the country and beyond.
Penpushing further reports that the project coordinator, Pastor Taiwo Ilo while speaking explained that, the essence of bringing opportunity to Abeokuta was aimed to showcase the endowment of natural history of the city and to propagate all the social tourist center in Ogun State.
The coordinator added that it was very important for them to keep and maintain God’s given gifts because they are pride to be appreciated, stressing that tourism is a big market all over the world and Ogun state should not be an exemption.
‘We are rich in culture, history and we have people of first class and high-profile individuals that can sell the state to the world but we are yet to utilize 10% of the opportunities that abound in the sector’, he stated.
‘We have the Olumo rock, first church in Nigeria, first hospital in Nigeria, Tongeji Island and so many others, if we, the stakeholders can properly utilize all these, the IGR and the economy of the state will double. We are very sure that Abeokuta would see the good profit of this renovation”
Penpushing also reports that Taiwo pointed out that there are many cultural endowments to showcase in Abeokuta which he noted are yet to manage in a profitable way, adding that these include places like Olumo rock tourist center, first Church in Nigeria, St Peter Anglican Church, Ake, and Adire Mall, Itoku,
The coordinator stressed that the organization would be happy to have the full support of the royal father and they would like to have him as the Royal Father of the forthcoming event which will take place at Park Inn, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
Penpushing reports that Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Segun Ibigbami, in his remarks said the royal consent of the monarch was important to them, adding that no doubt its going to add value to the project.
The Chief Executive Officer expressed optimism that the support of the traditional ruler will further encourage the organization to improve more and equally boost its image not only in Abeokuta, but at global level
