Olowu endorses ogun state freelance broadcasters’ professionalism
The Olowu of Kingdom Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, has endorsed Ogun State Chapter of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (Ogun FIBAN) for commitment and focus in positive upliftment of broadcasting.
Penpushing reports that the monarch gave the kudos on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the newly inaugurated officers of the body, led by its Chairman, Chief Olalekan Shoyinka, popularly known as “Ayinla Egba,” at his palace in Oke Ago-Owu in Abeokuta.
The first-class traditional ruler, Otileta VII, equally commended leaders and members of the association for ensuring a peaceful and orderly leadership transition that ushered in the association’s new executive.
Penpushing further reports that he expressed delight at the renewed unity within the body of broadcasters and urged members to work diligently to sustain the harmony and progress recorded so far.
The royal father reminded broadcasters of the enormous influence they wield in society, encouraging them to deploy the power of the tongue responsibly for positive development of the society.
Penpushing also reports that Olowu assured the delegation of the palace’s full support and pledged that the association would henceforth be fully integrated into palace programmes and public engagements
The chairman of the body speaking during the visit, expressed deep appreciation to the monarch for granting the delegation audience and lauded the Olowu’s royal charisma as well as his consistent advocacy for peaceful coexistence among his people.
Penpushing reports that Shoyinka highlighted the vital role of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria(FIBAN) in society, describing its members as grassroots media practitioners and the voice of the voiceless who create impactful content across radio, television, and digital platforms, with chapters nationwide.
The association boss assured the monarch of members readiness to support programmes of the Owu Palace and its people, while also requesting that the association be actively involved in palace engagements where media partnership would be beneficial.
Penpushing further reports that the occasion was also used by the association to formally invite the monarch to the forthcoming 2026 World Radio Day celebration organised by state chapter of the freelance broadcasters scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, where the monarch is expected to serve as the Royal Father of the Day.
The association delegation included Comrade Moses Okunlola (General Secretary), Comrade Oluwatoyin Asakpa (Financial Secretary), Comrade Olusoji Akindiya, Publicity Secretary, Comrade Betty Adejare (Welfare Officer), Comrade Olalekan Atanda, Comrade Wasiu Alani, Comrade Tolulope Ezekiel Obadare, Comrade Emmanuel Somuyiwa, Comrade Oluwaseun Adesanya, and Comrade Bafunso Kehinde.
Penpushing also reports that among the palace Chiefs who received the association executives and members alongside the monarch were High Chief Olanrewaju Oseni-Obamaja of Owu Kingdom, High Chief Olusola Adeoye-Osupori of Owu Kingdom, High Chief Adebayo Aderemi Adelani-Oyega of Owu Kingdom, Chief Akinpelu Browne-Omotobase of Owu Kingdom, and Chief Saheed Ademola Salako-Ajiroba of Owu Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the visit concluded with the presentation of an honorary plaque from the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) National Office to the royal father as a mark of respect and a lasting symbol of the cordial engagement.
