Olabisi Onabanjo University Alumni Association donate Public Address Systems to aid effective teaching
The Olabisi Onabanjo University Alumni Association (OOUAA), Abeokuta Chapter has donated Public Address Systems to the University to enhance effective teaching and learning by the staff and students of the institution
Penpushing reports that, Chairman of the association Mr. Adesina Adefolahan, while presenting the items to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde on behalf of the members said the need to donate the items became imperative having done a due diligence on the needs of the University within the financial demands of its members.
The Chairman explained that the items were also part of the efforts of the branch to immortalize some of its past members who have played significant role in the life of the Alumni, identifying them as inlude Barrister. Segun Odubela (SAN) a onetime Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State and Justice Kolawole Peters.
Penpushing further reports that, Adefolahan, speaking appreciated the Vice-Chancellor of the University for the Giant Strides that he and the management team has done towards lifting the standard of the University.
The association boss recalled that in the past, members of the Abeokuta Chapter of the Alumni Association has donated computer sets, ceiling fans and institution of awards to the best graduating student of the University with an annual award of N50,000.00 which span across ten years.
Penpushing also reports that, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, in response thanked members of the Abeokuta Chapter for remembering their alma-mata and called for continuous support of the branch and other branches.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged that Abeokuta chapter remains the most active of all the branches at the national level as he also acknowledged the support of United Kingdom and United States of America /Canada chapters, with a call for unity among the various chapters.
Penpushing further reports that, at the well-attended event, Registrar of the University, Mr. Femi Ogunwomoju also appreciated the association for always remembering the University from time to time.
The Chairman of Conflict and Resolution Committee of the Governing Council, Chief Adepegba Otemolu in his remarks reiterated that within the last thirty days of the inauguration of the new Governing Council, he is learning fast about the University, and called on all chapters to be ready to embrace dialogue towards achieving peace that will usher in further growth to the University
Penpushing also reports that, amongst top officers of the University in attendance were Prof. Charles Olufemi Adekoya Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Deji Agboola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, bursar, Mr. Semiu Makinde as well as the University Librarian.
The other delegates on the visit include Mr. Oluwaseyi Sokoya, a Permanent Secretary with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Bamidele Adebayo the Ogun State Solicitor General and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Alhaji Afis Osolase, a retired Permanent Secretary, Barrister Lukman Abdullah, the Vice Chairman of the Alumni, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke the Deputy Registrar of the Federal College of Education, (FCE) Osiele, Abeokuta, Dr. Toyin Makinde and Mrs. Ronke Peters the wife of late Justice Kolawole Peters.
