Ogun state traditional ruler, Oba James Saliu donates security outposts to amotekun, vigilante group

The traditional ruler of Ogere town of Ogun State, Oba James Obafemi Saliu has constructed and donated two security outposts for the use of South-West Security Network otherwise known as Amotekun, and the Vigilante Group of Nigerian (VGN).

Penpushing reports that the the security outposts, worth several millions of naira, are in two separate strategic locations within Ogere-Remo community in the Ogun East Senatorial District, aimed to serve as the operational and administrative offices of the two security agencies in Ogere community.

The Ologere in his speech at the occasion said he made the gesture in recognition of the commitment of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to security, peace, law, and order in the state.

Penpushing further reports that he added that he decided to elevate the popular security slogan of ” if you see something, say something”, and highlighted the imperative of private individuals’ initiatives in supporting the state government’s provision of basic infrastructure to enhance the operational environments of security agencies for better services in addition to providing them reliable information to work with.

The monarch added that his decision was informed on the need to construct the security outposts for the Amotekun and Vigilante group, to complement the two buildings earlier donated to SO-SAFE and Agbekoya, and the provision of an operational vehicle for the Police Division at Ogere.

Penpushing also reports that he stated that the contributions were in recognition of the invaluable services of the security agencies to the Ogere community and to motivate them for better performances.

The royal father pointed out that there are always security needs and spaces to be filled in any society, emphasizing that the task could not be left for the government alone to accomplish, saying that his modest contributions derived from the conviction of the Governor that no meaningful progress could be made in any society in the absence of security.

Penpushing reports that Ologere, explained that security is the honeycomb that continually attracts the bees of prosperity, peace, and happiness to any community, just as he, promised to continue to do his best to ensure adequate security in the Ogere community.

The Permanent Secretary Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Alhaji Olarenwaju Saka, receiving the security outposts on behalf of the state government thanked the monarch for the kind gesture.

Penpushing further reports that Saka enjoined other highly privileged citizens of the state to emulate the monarch’s philanthropic spirit, stressing that security should be seen as everybody is business and that every positive private individual’s initiative in that direction would not go unnoticed and unappreciated.

The Amotekun Commander Brigadier Alade Isiaka Adedigba (rtd), in his remarks at the ceremony said he was happy that the building was completed within a few months following the promises made to him by the monarch.

Penpushing also reports that the Commander Vigilante Group of Nigerian (VGN) on his part pointed out that the building was a pleasant surprise and a thing of immeasurable joy, adding that the attached residential quarters would go a long way in facilitating the personnel services to the community.

The dignitaries at the event include Ogun State Commander of  Amotekun, Brigadier Alade Isiaka Adedigba (rtd), Edward Ajogun(former Commissioner of Police Ogun State), who is now Senior Consultant on Security to Ogun State Governor.
