
Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, to introduce whistle blowing strategy in schools
The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, (TESCOM), has disclosed plan to introduce a ‘whistle-blowing’ initiative, to promote effective teaching activities in secondary schools in the stated.
Penpushing reports that Chairman of the Commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu made this known during a familiarization visit to some secondary schools in Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Egba divisions.
The Chairman accompanied by board members, Permanent Secretary, Principals- General, Directors and Senior Staff in the agency. explained that the development would serve as a way to strengthen two-way communication between the commission, secondary school teaching, and non-teaching staff.
‘This initiative aims to document and address negative activities occurring within schools and we will ensure that all reported information is treated confidentially’, Sanyaolu stated.
Penpushing further reports that he hinted that dedicated phone numbers for the initiative would be rolled out soon, with a caution to guide against falsehood, adding that the teaching workforce will equally be improved,
‘A lot of such schemes will be introduced by the board to enhance the secondary school system, and improve the teaching workforce in the realisation of the State government’s policy on education”, he stated
Penpushing also reports that Sanyaolu implored members of staff in secondary schools to take their work seriously, be punctual, and dress properly, adding that they should endeavour to teach moral values to better the lives of learners.
The Principal of Itori Comprehensive High School, (Senior), Mr. Ramon Akeweje, and his counterparts at Yewa (Egbado) College, (Junior), Mrs. Oluwatobi Ige, as well as the Vice Principal of Odogbolu Comprehensive High School, (Senior), Mrs. Olubunmi Taiwo, commended the monitoring team from the commission for its proactiveness, promising their support to the agency.
Penpushing reports that other visited were Ajagbe High School, Iperu Remo, Isanbi High School, Ilishan, Iganmode Grammar School, Ota, Nawar-ud-deen Grammar School, Obantoko, Baptist Boys High School, Saje, Gateway Secondary School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta, among others.
