Ogun state permanent secretaries’ task on timely data usage in decision-making.

The Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State have been urged across to actively support the work of the State Consultative Committee on Statistics (SSCS) by promoting the use of accurate and timely data in decision-making.
Penpushing reports that the duo of Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan (Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning) and Prof Vincent Akinyosoye(Professor of Applied Economics and Data Management) gave the charge on Thursday, during day two of the State Consultative Committee on Statistics (SSCS) inauguration.
The ceremony held at Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) headquarters at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta was organised by the Ogun State Bureau of Statistics to engage top-level government officials after an earlier session with workers.
Penpushing further reports that the commissioner emphasised that every stakeholder in the committee’s structure has a role to play in ensuring the system works effectively, stressing that the job is not to generate data but to collect, collate, process, and make meaning of it.
The Commissioner explained that the adoption of the Integrated System of Administrative Statistics (ISAS) would make statistical operations faster, more efficient, and less dependent on manual processes.
‘Our job is not to generate data but to collect, collate, process, and make meaning of it. I am saddled with producing good, accurate, and recent data,” he added.
Penpushing also reports that Mrs. Adebayo Omolola, Director of Research Methodology, Ogun Bureau of Statistics, in her welcome remarks highlighted the importance of Permanent Secretaries’ agreement to the success of the State Statistical System.
The attendance platform includes Special Adviser from the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Jide Sanwo; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Oluola Aikulola; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Waheed Adesina.
Penpushing reports that the others are Permanent Secretary, Hospital Management Board, Dr. Mrs. Elemide Olayinka; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Dr. Yusuf Lateef; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye; and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Oluwaseyi Sokoya.
