Ogun state lawmaker, Awoso raises alarm over looming security threat, as result of porous border
The lawmaker representing Yewa North I State Constituency, at the Ogun State House of Assembly Hon Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso has raised alarm over looming security threat posed by the porous borders in the state, particularly in Ogun West Senatorial District due to its proximity to a neighbouring country.
Penpushing reports that Awoso at the plenary on Thursday drew the attention of the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to the ugly development urging him to fully implement the Anti-Open Grazing Law, which was signed into law in 2020, by providing security agencies with the necessary equipment and support to enforce it effectively.
The lawmaker in same vein called on the Governor and security agencies to thoroughly investigate activities around the Dangote Cement Plant located between Ibese and Igbogila as he expressed concern over the influx of unidentified individuals who claim to be working within the corridor of the plant but have no traceable residence in the area.
Penpushing further reports that he noted that while the company uses tracking systems to secure its goods and vehicles, many of its returning trucks allegedly convey unknown persons under the guise of freedom of movement, thereby posing a serious security risk to the people of Yewa North.
The popular politician emphasized that the security of lives and property must remain the top priority of government—even ahead of multimillion-naira infrastructural projects, and therefore urged the Governor to act swiftly to address the growing security threats facing Ogun State at this critical time.
