Ogun State Government partners women groups on agriculture production
The Ogun State Government has concluded arrangements to partner Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Development Networks (WEPDN) and other Women Groups in the State in Noilers production value chains.
Penpushing reports that the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Adeola Odedina made this known when the Global Convener of the network, Iyalode Alaba Lawson led the women groups to his office on Tuesday in Abeokuta.
The Commissioner disclosed that the arrangements were being put in place through the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, adding that the composition of the women groups is in tandem with the vision and plans of the ministry
Penpushing further reports that, Odedina explained that the ministry is willing and ready to partner with the groups in the production of Noilers chicken with assistance from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“With our partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), we will be giving out 30 Noilers each to rural women. So, you need to register and get the 30 Noilers. Noilers means, it’s combining the strength of cockrel and the beauty of broilers. So, its a nice concept to key in into”, he emphasised
Penpushing also reports that, he however gave assurance that before the end of the year, the Ministry will engage the groups in trainings and investment promotion in order to further network the potentiality of the groups
“I want to make a promise that if I have a date, we will like to do training and an investment promotion for these groups, which will include all value chain opportunities”, the commissioner said
Penpushing further reports that, the Global Convener of the women group in her remarks informed their host of the readiness of the women to take up agriculture as means of bridging the food deficits in the state.
“We have taken responsibility to develop female Entrepreneurs and professionals across the country, with our network of members spreading to different states in the country’, Lawson said.
The first female President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) expressed appreciation to the state government for the inclusion of women groups in the agricultural development, and gave commitment that the women in different areas of entrepreneurship and professional expertise will add great value to the advancement of agricultural development in the State.
“The agro business clusters is paramount in our developmental plans, as we recognize the fact that food is very important to human existence and could be a veritable economic tools. Give the association agricultural land to enable us develop our agriculture clusters fully” she added
Penpushing reports that, the groups includes, Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs in ECOWAS (FEBWE), Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Networks (WEPDN), Egba Royal Sisters (Home and Abroad), Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce Women, NACCIMA Women Group (NAWORG), Ibafo Women’s Forum, Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the representative of the Emmanuel Jiboku Farms.
