Ogun state government organizes workshop on development of Health Annual operational plan

The Ogun State Government on Monday organized a 5-day workshop on the development of the State Health Annual Operational Plan for year 2021, while the overall objective is to facilitate the application of the National Strategic Health Development Plan( NSHDP)

Penpushing reports that, the workshop, which is the project of the State Ministry of Health holds between Monday October 5- 9 at Mitros Residences located in Government Reservation Area(GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta, and supported by UNICEF

The specific learning at the workshop includes; develop common understanding of operational  planning, its concepts and steps involved, undertake the situation analysis for the purpose of articulating annual operational plan, define priority and targets to be achieve, utilize planning tools to articulate costed operational plan activities linked to the annual budget and develop MDA and staff

Penpushing further  reports that, Commissioner for Health, Dr Tommy Coker declaring open the workshop pointed out that ,annual operational plan helps to define trajectory, the road map and timeline for getting to the desired destination, stating that it is also important  tool for translating government intentions and policies into tangible actions

‘The reason for our gathering this week is because of our second, five year costed State Strategic Health Development Plan (SSHDP 11) for year 2018-2022 and M&E plan which were collectively developed in 2017 in tandem with the national guidelines provided  by the Federal Ministry of Healthto remarkably improve the health status of the people of Ogun State’, Coker said

The Commissioner said, the expectations is that this will lead to scaling up of effective service coverage, coordinate support for health and increase in domestic health financing that would ultimately result in improved health outcomes.

‘In a bid to ensure the successful implementation of the Strategic Health Development Plan 11, the State  Health M&E Technical Working Group(TWG) was recently  constituted  and inaugurated to provide  oversight function on M&E activities in health sector  and review  the implementation status of SSHDP 11’, Coker stated.

Penpushing reports that, the Commissioner said the state government in its bid  to attain effective implementation, improve  coordination and harness dwindling health resources for efficiency, and equally deemed it fit to provide all necessary support that will enable the Ministry to develop the annual operational plan
