Ogun state government admits relevance of organized private sectors in economy development
The Ogun State Government has admitted the relevance of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, aimed at the growing profile of the State as a destination of choice for investors within and outside the country.
Penppushing reports that the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele made this known at the annual general meeting and investiture of Evang David Bello as 10th President of the Ota-Agbara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, held at the Commerce House, Opic Industrial Estate, Igere-Igbesa, Ogun State.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that the state government equally recognized the resilient partnership that exist between the chamber and government as well as appreciating the chamber for drawing the attention of the Government to various opportunities that could be utilized for the development of the state’s economy.
‘I rejoice specially, with all council members on this remarkable occasion and salute your untiring efforts at championing and sustaining the increased tempo of Organised Private Sector participation in the State’, she said.
‘I make bold to assert that the present administration in Ogun State, recognizes the resilient partnership that exist between us, aimed at enhancing the growing profile of the state as a destination of choice for investors, and for drawing the attention of the government to various opportunities that could be utilized for the development of the state’s economy’, she emphasised.
‘We are aware that OTAGCCIMA, as one of the five city Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in the State, is outstandingly the Chamber with the largest concentration of industries in the country. As such, OTAGCCIMA is key for the rapid economic and industrial development of the State’.
‘Permit me to use this medium, to once again, show our gratitude to your mother body – the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) for recognizing the role of our administration in the industrial sector of the country, and for appointing His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, as her grand Patron’.
‘The theme of this year’s Annual General Meeting “The Role of Chambers of Commerce in Synergizing the Organised Private Sector (OPS)” is appropriate and timely at this time when the country is directing its course towards non-oil exportation because of the crucial roles chambers of commerce play in driving economic development within communities, by connecting businesses, supporting entrepreneurs, advocating for business interests, promoting tourism and events, and fostering workforce development’.
‘We cannot underestimate the diverse benefits associated with joining a chamber of commerce. This provides businesses with a powerful collective voice in influencing local, state, and even national policies. Chambers of Commerce and Industry, also work with the government to develop laws and administrative policies, and as well act against those who violate rules and regulations’, she added.
‘Chambers actively advocate for the interests of their members, promoting pro-business initiatives, and addressing challenges faced by the community. I want to state that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) must therefore understand the roles and benefits of joining a Chambers movement and what it takes to be a bonafide member’.
Penpushing further reports that she said the government is playing vital roles in assisting Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture through aggressive agricultural production, industrialization programmes and creation of needed enabling environment.
‘This is evident in his numerous initiatives aimed at making businesses and investments to flourish. One of such, is the newly created Ogun Airport City, which has the following facilities:Special Agric. Processing Zone, Dry Port and Logistics Hub, International Cargo Airport, Industrial Estates, Quality assurance Centre (AQAC) by African Export Import Bank’.
Penpushing also reports that she assured that government remains committed to the restructuring and repositioning of Ota-Agbara City to sustain its prime status as the commercial and industrial hub of Ogun State.
‘The state government will continue to support different categories of businesses existing in the state. Permit me to mention that the need to assist the business environment operating within Ota and Agbara actually led to the agreement between the Federal Government and the State for the reconstruction of the Atan- Lusada -Agbara road.
Penpushing reports that she congratulated the outgoing President, Deaconess Cythia Saka, the new President, Evang David Bello and all council members stressing that the zeal to make Ota – Agbara greater should be collective effort.
‘I believe that once the hub is fixed and gotten right, the State economy will be boosted and re-engineered for our common good. It is on this note that I wish and pray that the Chamber will continue to grow in leaps and bounds’, she stated
