Ogun state deputy governor escapes protesting students attack

The Ogun State Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele on Wednesday escaped the wrath of protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, when her convoy met them on the road and attacked the team.

Penpushing reports that Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy Kayode Akinmade in a statement said the Deputy Governors convoy was on its way to 35 Artillery Brigade Alabama, Abeokuta, when her convoy met the protesting students.

The statement added that the irate protesting students, were armed with sticks and other dangerous projectiles, and when they realized it was the Deputy Governor, they became even more restive and rushed to attack her convoy.

Penpushing further reports that Akinmade stated that all efforts to allow the convoy pass proved abortive despite the security operatives as well as other police officers on grounds persuasion to stay calm and allow the convoy pass

The Deputy Governor who was going to represent the Governor at the reception marking the year 2025, Armed Forces Rememberance day Celebrations, however, made immediate detour to her lodge for the protesting students to pass peacefully before she left for the function she was slated to attend.

Penpushing also reports that the statement explained that the students caused obstruction of vehicular movement, while some of her security vehicle was damaged and her security operatives, hurt in the process of maintaining law.

The statement explained that no student was injured or shot contrary to speculations making rounds in some quarters, and the Deputy Governor did not order any gun attack on the protesting students as been mischievously rumoured .
