Nigerian Senator, Shuaib Salisu illuminates Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre with Solar power
The Senator representing Ogun Central of Ogun State at the national assembly, Senator Shuaib Salisu has extended gestures to Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) with provision of 12W 48V/200A Solar Power System, and Ten High Solar Powered Streetlights at the secretariat located in Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that it is recalled that journalism started in Nigeria with first newspaper in Abeokuta, called Iwe-Iroyin in 1895, hence, the journalists headquarters in the ancient town has been named Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre as a reference point in the journalism worldwide

The federal lawmaker in adding value to the Iwe-Iroyin press centre resolved to illuminate the premises and embarked on the project which had earlier been put to test and scheduled to be officially commissioned on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Penpushing further reports that with the provision of the solar power supply which will operate on daily basis for 24 hours uninterrupted, the influx of hoodlums and call girls will now be effectively addressed as there won’t be opportunity for hideouts for the elements as well as social vices within the premises will be put to an end.

The stakeholders speaking on the laudable development have, however, advised and tasked leadership of the union, on need to ensure engaging eagle eye security guards to protect the project to avoid vandalising by shady characters
